The University of Trinidad and Tobago invites you to a webinar on Short Sea Shipping services in the Southern Caribbean region on Tuesday, 9 April 2024, from 8:30 to 12:00 EST.
This webinar is part of a series of academic events intended to create a forum for public education and awareness on topics of current interest to the maritime industry. As a matter of context, at present, the governments of the CARICOM (Caribbean Community) are currently considering the creation of an intra-regional cargo and passenger (ROPAX) ferry service in the Southern Caribbean, which is intended primarily to support food security in the region having regard to global developments and international disruptions in trade. The proposal is still in its formative stages.
Presentations will be organized around the theme of supporting food security through regional integration in the Southern Caribbean by strengthening maritime transportation, logistics, and supply chains. In this way, the two important issues of intra-regional cargo and passenger transport will be discussed.
Academics, researchers, consultants, policy makers, and practitioners involved in Short Sea Shipping and the maritime industry will deliver presentations, with PortEconomics member Ricardo Sanchez moderating the event.
